Bruising Easily

If you're bruising easily, something that has been reported to me many, many times over the years, one of the first things I always instructed was in addition to vitamin C, taking with C, very high levels of FULL potency bioflavonoids. Bringing in the bioflavonoids, in cases where the bruising was not due to some serious disease but was due to a nutrient deficiency, bioflavonoids always corrected the problem.

Let's talk about a few things now that are going to focus you a little bit more in terms of understanding how vitamin C does what it does.

Vitamin C One Of Most Important Antioxidants

Let's talk about something you probably have all heard about, and that is that vitamin C is an antioxidant, one of the most important antioxidants. I've explained many times on this program what antioxidants are and what that's all about. But review is always a good thing.

What Are Antioxidants

I'm going to just give you a brief explanation as to what an antioxidant is and what oxidative stress means and how vitamin C ties into the prevention of all these different disease symptoms, as I mentioned, in part because of its antioxidant capacity. Remember, you don't look at vitamin C to treat disease. Look at vitamin C to keep you healthy, to prevent disease. That's a much healthier way of looking at this.

Process Of Metabolism

In the process of metabolism, let's step back a second and just explain what metabolism is. Metabolism is when you eat glucose from carbohydrates, and fatty acids from your fats, they go to your cells in a certain part of the cell. They are mixed with oxygen, and they produce energy and heat, and the cells produce energy and heat. That process is called metabolism.

Keyword Oxygen

When you hear the word metabolism, that's what is referred to, the creation of energy from glucose and fatty acids combined with oxygen. The keyword here is oxygen. In that process, just like any manufacturing process of any material, you're going to have some waste products. Not everything is going to be completely cleaned. There's going to be some fallout from this.

Fallouts Metabolic Process

One of the fallouts that you have from the metabolic process is that you have some oxygen molecules which become rogue. They're not attached. Oxygen is unstable unless it's bonded together into a stable oxygen molecule. When it becomes, if you ever see oxygen written in chemistry terms, it's written as O2, which means two atoms of oxygen together, making a form, a stable form of oxygen. If O2 breaks down to just one oxygen, it's unstable. It just can't deal all by itself. It needs to deal with something else. And it needs its natural instinct as a chemical, as an atom is to find something to bond with because it's unstable.

Bonds With Fats In Cells

One of the things that it bonds with is the fats in your cells. It finds the fats, in every one of your cells, which you have 50 to 100 trillion cells in your body. And there are membranes, there is a membrane that goes around each cell, which is called a cell wall. It goes around each cell, and a lot of it is made of fat. A lot of that cell membrane is made of fat.

Looking To Bond

Of course, there are fats in your body all over your body, this fat is stored all over your body. So, these free radicals, these rogue oxygen atoms are called free radicals. They are free. And some of them are just plain oxygen. Some are oxygen mixed with hydrogen. And they're going around looking for something to bond onto.

Very Destructive

Unfortunately, that bonding process is very destructive. That bonding process, literally when the oxygen, the oxygen radicals eat literal eat holes in various tissues, it’s a very destructive process. And if they eat holes in that cell wall that goes around the cell and protects that cell, then these oxygen, rogue oxygen, atoms and oxygen, molecules, free radicals can get into the cell where your DNA is stored. That's your genetic material. What does that mean?

Cells Constantly Dying

What it means is that the cells you are born with are not the cells you have now. As a matter of fact, the cells you were born with weren't the cells you had when you were two months old. The cells are constantly dying and being replaced. They're not permanent cells that are there for your whole life. They're always being replaced.

Cloned Cells

How do you make exact copies of your cells? How do you make duplicates of these cells and make them come out exactly right? That's what's referred to as cloned. How does the body make clones of its own cells to replace its own cells with exact copies? It does it because that DNA is the blueprint. The blueprint is what the cell works from to create the new cell.

Degraded DNA

What happens if you have oxygen atoms getting into the cell and engaging or messing around with DNA because it got into the cell? It shouldn't be in the cell. These free rogue oxygen radicals, these free radicals, they shouldn't be in there. What happens? The DNA is going to be degraded. You're going to degrade that DNA. And when that cell divides to make new cells of itself, the copy is going to be imperfect. It's not going to be the same as it should be. And the more imperfect that becomes, the more problems you're going to have. This is referred to as oxidative stress, and oxidative stress makes you vulnerable to many serious degenerative diseases.

Abnormal DNA

When people say vitamin C and cancer, you hear vitamin C in regard to cancer all the time. It's not that vitamin C is used to treat tumors. That's not the answer. The answer is that, vitamin C should be used to help you prevent that DNA damage. Because if you don't, if you have abnormal DNA, then you have a risk of more and more abnormal cells. And that's what cancer is, abnormal cell production.

All Kinds Of Nutrients Needed

I've got to make sure this person with abnormal cells is going to be getting all kinds of nutrients, minerals, vitamins, and more. What you're going to want to do is, look, you know, think while I'm still healthy, I want to make sure my DNA is intact.
